Overview

Fasting Timer is designed with privacy in mind. Your fasting data, weight logs, and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not have our own servers and do not store your personal health information.

Data We Store on Your Device

All of the following data is stored locally on your device in an SQLite database. It is never uploaded to any server.

Fasting records: Start time, end time, target duration, and protocol used
Weight logs: Weight entries and dates you choose to record
Water intake: Daily water consumption during fasts
Milestones: Streak counts and fasting achievements
Protocols: Custom fasting protocols you create
Settings: Theme preference, notification settings, unit preferences, and selected gradient theme

No account creation or sign-in is required. No cloud sync is used.

Health Data Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: Fasting Timer is a tracking and timing tool only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The fasting zone information (fed state, fat burning, ketosis, autophagy) is based on general science and may not apply to your individual health situation. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any fasting regimen, especially if you have medical conditions, are pregnant, or are taking medication.

Notifications

The app may send local notifications for:

Zone transitions: Alerts when you enter a new fasting zone (e.g. ketosis, autophagy)
Goal completion: When your fasting target is reached
Daily reminders: Optional scheduled reminders to start your fast
Streak nudges: Optional reminders to maintain your fasting streak
Hydration reminders: Periodic water intake reminders during active fasts

All notifications are generated locally on your device. No notification data is sent to any server. You control all notification settings and can disable them at any time.

Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

We display ads through Google AdMob to support free access to the app. AdMob may collect certain device and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. This may include:

Device identifiers (advertising ID)
IP address
General location (derived from IP)
App usage data related to ad interactions

You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization.

Google Play Billing

The app offers in-app purchases and subscriptions through Google Play Billing:

Ad-Free — one-time purchase to remove all ads
Pro — monthly or yearly subscription for premium themes, analytics, weight tracking, and more

Purchase and subscription transactions are handled entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store any payment information. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from Google Play > Subscriptions.

Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how people use the app so we can improve it. This service collects anonymous usage data including:

Screens visited and navigation patterns
Feature usage (e.g. which features are used most)
App events (e.g. fasts started, protocols selected — counts only, no durations or personal details)
Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
General location (country/region derived from IP address)
App version and session duration

This data is anonymous — it is not linked to any personal identifier and does not include your health data (fasting times, weight, or water intake). Analytics data is processed by Google under their Privacy Policy.

Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports to improve app stability. This may include device model, OS version, and stack traces. No personal or health data is included in crash reports.

Firebase Remote Config

We use Firebase Remote Config to manage feature flags and app settings remotely. This allows us to enable/disable features, update pricing, and perform maintenance without requiring an app update. No personal data is collected through Remote Config.

Home Screen Widget

The app provides an optional home screen widget to display your fasting progress. Widget data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to any server.

Permissions

Internet: Required for serving ads (free version), in-app purchases, crash reporting, and fetching feature flags.
Notifications: Used for local-only alerts — zone transitions, goal completion, daily reminders, and hydration reminders. No push notifications from any server.
Foreground Service: Keeps the fasting timer running accurately when the app is in the background. This is a local timer process — no data is transmitted.
Boot Completed: Reschedules local notification reminders after device restart.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number)
Health or medical records
Location data (GPS)
Contacts or call logs
Individual fasting data, weight logs, or health metrics sent to any server

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any of your data with third parties. The only third-party data collection is by Google AdMob as described above, which can be eliminated by purchasing the Ad-Free upgrade.

Share Feature

The app includes an optional feature to share fasting milestones as image cards. When you use the share feature, a locally generated image is shared through your device's standard share sheet. We do not collect or transmit any data through this feature — sharing is handled entirely by your device's operating system.

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally on your device. You have full control:

Delete individual records (fasts, weight entries) within the app
Clear all data by clearing the app's storage in your device settings
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all associated data

We retain no data on any server.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Fasting is not recommended for children — this app is intended for adult use. AdMob is configured to comply with applicable regulations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
